Voice training/choir

Singing along in a choir is a great community experience and promotes social skills. The young singers gain stage experience at school concerts and thereby strengthen their self-confidence in many other areas of life. And last but not least: Singing makes you happy!

At our school, students in grades 5 and 6 have the opportunity to sing in the school choir for 2 hours a week instead of traditional music lessons. Not only are songs rehearsed, but choral voice training is also practiced. With the help of a special workbook, the singers also learn topics from general music theory – for example scales, intervals or notation – in a very practical way in connection with singing.

Soloists also emerge from the ranks of choir singers for certain songs – a lasting experience for anyone who dares to do so.

Before school concerts, rehearsals are held on the large stage of our auditorium so that the students can consolidate their stage presence.

Particular highlights of the choir’s work included an appearance at the choir festival “Class! We Sing” in Cologne’s Lanxess Arena and the collaboration with the conductor Thomas Neuhoff as part of a concert with works by the British composer Edward Elgar.
