Mission AI – experience, understand, help shape

The German Museum Bonn is reinventing itself – becoming a forum for artificial intelligence! On 2. February 2021 we will open the first stage of this exciting journey with the experience space “Mission AI – experience, understand, help shape”for you, as far as the regulations allow.
The subtitle says it all: Together with you, in this first step, we are approaching what is probably the most influential technology of our time. What exactly is “artificial intelligence”, how does it work, how intelligent is it and where do we already experience it in everyday life?
AI can be experienced through current application examples for robotics, image recognition, cybercrime, the development of autonomous driving, the ambivalence of voice assistants or “artificial creativity”. A number of research institutions have made their developments available to us for this purpose. Some of these were also part of the exhibition by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the 2019 science year “Artificial Intelligence”.
The “Mission AI” is just the start of the German Museum Bonn’s journey to becoming the central experience location for artificial intelligence in North Rhine-Westphalia. By 2022, significant parts of the current static permanent exhibition will make room for new, constantly changing experience spaces. Our goal is to become an exciting and entertaining information forum about AI for you. We already encounter artificial intelligence everywhere today and will become even more so in a few years. We would therefore like to actively involve you in the communication and discussion about the opportunities and challenges of AI.
