Lesson offer
In addition to the regular lessons in mathematics, the subject ELSA is taught in grades 5, 6 and 7 for one hour and in double classes. Here you work independently on tasks in the main subjects, including a significant amount of mathematics. In years 8, 9 and 10 this takes place as part of the open learning period.
The subject of computer science is taught for one hour in regular classes in grade 6. Since the 2015/16 school year, the subject has also been offered and chosen as a two-hour elective from grade 7 onwards.
The subject of natural sciences is taught for two hours in regular lessons in grades 5, 6 and 7. From the 8th year onwards, Physics and Biology are taught for two hours every six months. Chemistry is taught for two hours in grade 8; in grades 9 and 10, the subject is taught for one hour in basic and advanced courses.
The subject of work theory/technology/home economics is taught in year 6 in regular lessons every six months for one hour in half classes.
In the elective lessons, the MINT offering is so broad that all students who do not choose a language or “representation and design” in year 7 take a MINT subject. These are around 80% of our students who take one of the “natural sciences”, “computer science” and “work studies/technology” courses as an elective subject and are therefore taught in the MINT area up to the 10th grade with two additional hours (120 minutes). In year 7, the elective subject is even taught for three hours. Due to the large number of students in the natural sciences, it is also possible to offer both differentiation options “Chemistry/Biology” and “Chemistry/Physics” as specified in the core curriculum in the compulsory elective area of natural sciences from grade 8 onwards.
