ELI – Student Aid
ESG offers a tutoring program for the individual support of all students: ELI!
This learning initiative is based on a tutoring system, meaning older, high-performing students support small groups of younger students. A tutor will teach a group of students (group size 2-4) once a week in an offered subject (math, German, English, French). Ideally, the younger students come from the same class, or at least from the same year group.
Lessons take place after the last hour at school. The learning groups are formed once every school semester, so that each course lasts around 10 to 15 hours. The tutors are supervised by the regular subject teachers, who provide materials and offer practical assistance.
This offer is not free: the students taught (or their parents) pay 4.00 euros per hour in advance. After completing the course, the tutor receives an allowance of 11 euros per hour as well as a certificate for his work. Experiences from other schools show that this system creates an effective way of individual support.
Potential tutors receive performance incentives because good performance is a prerequisite for working as a tutor. For the supported students, the offer is available quickly, inexpensively and close to the lessons without the hassle of looking for a private teacher. Students can get together with classmates to form a small learning group and thus quickly close gaps together.
The dates for the coming school year:
- Course 2025/2026: September 22nd, 2025 – February 6th, 2026 (Registration deadline: September 12th, 2025)

ELI Plus
In addition to ELI, ESG has been offering another option for individual learning support since 2025:ELI Plus.
ELI Plus is the placement of tutors for individual tutoring.
This is merely an intermediary service. All details regarding payment, times, duration and content must be clarified directly with the tutors after the placement. The ESG only establishes contact with selected and qualified tutors who usually go to high school with us and have to provide proof of good grades.
