Addiction prevention

Before we then present our concept of drug counseling activities, we would like to point out the core of our work, namely the development of one’s own strong identity and personality!

Anyone who knows who they are, who has healthy self-confidence and who has learned to deal with crises, will also develop a healthy attitude towards themselves and their body and our consumer goods market and will be less susceptible to drugs and addictions of all kinds be!

And that leads us to the different focuses of our drug prevention work, which is not rigid, but must constantly adapt to the different living environments of young people, such as the current training of the “network pilots”, who are dedicated to dealing with the new media and “computer-cell phone addiction”.

In this context, we also refer to the numerous school and extracurricular partners with whom we work on drug prevention.

The Prevention Commissariat should be mentioned, which offers further training and parents’ evenings at our school. The close contact with “UPDATE”, an institute that offers workshops in project weeks and is the contact person for students, parents and colleagues and trains the “network pilots”.

Our advisory team, including the drug counseling teachers, the social educators, who also have a special status among the students, are all dedicated to the problem..

Another focus is the aforementioned project week in the 7th year on the topic of drugs, which includes numerous school and extracurricular activities, especially on the topic of “strengthening the self”. In this context, the adventure-educational canoe trip in the 6th grade must also be mentioned!

Furthermore, this topic finds its place in the subjects of biology and religion (middle school) as well as in pedagogy lessons in the upper school.

Almost all grade 6 classes take part in the project “Be Smart – Don’t Start”, which is against the consumption of nicotine.

Of course, we also maintain cooperation with parents, but we have also developed an “escalation spiral” that shows how to deal with intoxicated students. Depending on the incident, this can range from assistance from the advisory team and the school psychology service to measures such as exclusion from classes or police investigations.

Our concept is always open to further suggestions and projects.
