Subject-independent compensatory lessons (FuA)

FuA aims to reduce non-subject-related learning difficulties among students and to modify work, learning and social behavior. This offer is aimed at students in the 5th and 6th grades who, for various reasons, cannot make the most of their abilities and skills in class. FuA is therefore not tutoring in a specific subject, but rather aims to support students in learning appropriate work, learning and social behavior in order to ultimately exploit their own performance and enable them to cope with school requirements.

The following areas are observed in students during a six-week observation phase and can play a role in the assignment to FuA lessons:

  • a general concentration disorder,
  • lack of perseverance in several areas,
  • lack of systematicity when completing tasks,
  • conspicuous forms of behavior such as the inability to express criticism, to be open to new processes or severe withdrawal (quiet children),
  • limited linguistic expression.

The funding content is determined individually for each group depending on the group composition.

Three types of “typical” FuA students can be mentioned here as examples:

  • Pupils with noticeably impulsive problem-solving behavior, i.e. they work superficially, finish tasks prematurely, do not adequately reflect on their task solution,
  • Pupils who work very slowly, are easily discouraged and distracted,
  • Pupils with low self-confidence, who cannot assert their rights and demands safely and successfully against other people.

Areas that can be addressed in subject-independent remedial lessons,

are:

  • Concentration and endurance,
  • Motivation,
  • Ability to cooperate in a group,
  • Behavior,
  • Motor skills,
  • Linguistic expression and willingness to communicate,
  • Basic work techniques and independent work organization.
