Music profile

Active music-making is very important at ESG: In addition to “normal” music lessons, our school also offers grades 5/6 the opportunity to complete vocal training for two years and sing in the choir or learn a wind/string instrument from the start and play in the orchestra. Our students (SuS) therefore experience music not only by listening, but also creative.

In two weekly lessons of 60 minutes each, there is one hour of voice training/instrumental lessons and one hour of ensemble work in a large group for the choir and orchestra children. Our goals in music are therefore preparation for active music-making in a group with public performances. External professional instrumental teachers teach their instruments in the orchestra school, and professional choir directors look after the singers. The aim is to further expand the music profile.

In the middle school (years 7 – 10) there are practical music groups (ensemble, songwriting, sound engineering, workshops), in the upper school (years 11 to high school diploma) projects take place.

Music at ESG makes a significant contribution to holistic personal development by imparting aesthetic education through active listening and active music-making. As musical ambassadors for our school, many of our students network with people who can make their entry into the world of life much easier. A qualifying certificate is regularly issued that describes the musical and personal career in detail over the years and is welcomed by many HR managers. Through long-term engagement with practical music-making, the students at the “Music School” have acquired important key qualifications: teamwork, tolerance, perseverance and resilience.
